The fractures of a fallen bridge

Posted on April 20, 2014 By adcitlali

Sharp mind-aches control his day
The sway of a woman is to blame

Her memory hugs his hand
         infiltrates his amnesia

    Dry skin absorbs that memory
(like a sponge in the touch of water)
until it reaches his broken limb

Those eyes sink in the absence
of an exhilaration twice stolen

Despair reaches his bones
It fractures her spirit
       It opens his eyes

She is on the same rocking chair
      misinterpreting the mess

Don’t we all misinterpret the mess. A human trait, I fear.

Yes we do. Life might be boring if we always get the “mess” properly interpreted, don’t you think? 🙂

This has a beautiful discordance..almost rocking along with misinterpreting the mess

Thank you, Jae. Ironically, I struggled a lot finding a way to use the word “rocking” in the poem.

Love the ending to this, Adriana. Nicely written poem.
