When space is silence…

Words, sounds, and space

Cherry jam

Posted on December 18, 2014 By adcitlali

Amelia feels desperate
   She  is   upset
      demotivated
        maybe  sad
       out  of  focus

a bit here
        a   bit         there

Amelia is   angry   with the world
because the sky is cloudy
     without shedding any snow
the trees are leafless
     thin and mostly quiet
     (smart birds emigrated already)

Amelia wants to shout
punch  a pillow     with ever-changing faces
                          *** of  you ***
                         the nameless you
the one too slow at the checkout counter
the one who can’t stop texting
                       the one who hurts
                  the ones bleeding those countries
                  the spammers
                     bad jokers
                     sore losers
                     ungraceful winners
          the dreamers and the romantics
             pragmatics   &   escapists

Amelia talked to the mirror: It is so dark outside!
                                          so many tasks to finish
                                          so many loose ends
                                    so …

Amelia felt hungry
humble
maybe arrogant
Nothing more than a bad day

Amelia ate a piece of bread
with butter and cherry jam
                  Tasty    –she thought
The northern lights are behind these clouds
ready to light up the sky and my days
               somehow

Some days can be terrible, some days can be so dark outside ~ That piece of bread looks tasty ~ When I feel angry with the world, I grab a chocolate, smiles ~

    Thanks for participating Adriana ~

your third person naratives are pretty amazing…love the jumpy here and there…the end with the toast and northern lights…its like you turn away from everything going on…and yet still it is relevant…

What an involved way of narration. I was with Amelia along the way and I agree, a piece of bread can make the world so much better!

I love the way the Amalia persona feels more first person than first… And for sure I know the dread of snowless winter and the darkness of its thoughts.. If but the clouds would open for the northern lights…

I have been Amelia some days. It is amazing how a little treat can change one’s perspective…sometimes. 🙂

Very clever. And agreed that it is amazing how something quite simple and almost childish pleasure can change one’s outlook–very well depicted. Thanks! I wish you the happiest of new years. k.

Much enjoyed the voice in this–the use of the third person. And I love the human-ness of Amelia–so easy to relate to. Happy New Year Adriana and much luck with your Goals 2015.
