Eyes hidden behind a veil
of frozen memories
    &  stolen stillness

Kissable lips
Alluring hair
Cheeks stamped by a shady past

You are
    elusive     yet I try

I draw your nose with summer-dress scent
your mouth is now a spring haiku
Your neck I explain with fire
            a house
            & a moonlit lake

Your soft words are easy to catch
I hold them between my hands
I blow                     I let them   go

I capture you    all       but your  eyes
Your dark slippery eyes hold a secret

I observe you
    stare at your irides
    gaze at the fog

You are but a mystery
behind an obvious silhouette
Attractively uninviting

You wear a static past
Your past?

I like the unique take on the prompt and the exploration of identity it allowed you to carry out.

Thank you, Gabriella. Recently, I’ve been thinking about how difficult is to tell a person by their looks or by how they present themselves at girst encounters. That and the artwork inspired the poem.

Some people are complex to read and understand though their words are easy ~

I specially like the part of “your mouth is now a spring haiku” ~ Thanks for joining in ~

    Happy New Year ~

Fantastic analysis of the draw of even the superficial and untrustworthy.

Do we ever really know the past or share all of our own? Static for some perhaps, and for some ever illusive. A lovely choice of adjectives depicting the image perfectly.

Some very elemental yet mysterious qualities to what you see in the silhouette; I, too, like the /mouth is now a spring haiku/your neck I explain with fire/. Interesting that once you “see” this person, you perceive that you do not want to get to know them further; cold & calculating, but also
    unexpected; cool take.

there are a lot of complexities in the painting, I feel your write reflects and also examines those very nicely

I really like how this prompt has brought out the mysterious. Your last couplet really brings that out…a static past…but is it genuine? Nicely done!

oh i love the spring dress scent… could smell it… and very interesting about the attractively uninviting… there is something about others that draws us close and sometimes just the other way round despite…

How could you really describe a person.. The spring haiku, the depth of the eyes. But can we ever record or understand it all… Do we even understand ourselves?

Ah.. it seems so easy these days to get that input instead of output look.. and i would so much rather have stayed working with people instead of moving to machines.. as truly that is what humans are evolved for as human and not machine..

And what i see is smartphone face in the photo above..:)

I like your description of attractively uninviting. So many of us develope a shield, that keeps people out. You used many clever and creative lines. So well done.
