There is an ocean at the precipice of your desired amnesia
Ready?
Take the step
JUMP! Surprise the water
Forget it all
Can you?
Can those waves clean selected echoes inside your head?
Will they remove the memory brought by the wind?
The one that hit you like a hurricane
woke you up from false numbness
The one that provoked you to move again
to see the morning sky
to feel the breeze on your face
Granted, it brought you to tears
It has that effect on me
but I cherish it nevertheless
Isn’t it reflecting the good times as well?
Do you really want to stop?
Then jump
JUMP! JUMP! Surprise the water
Forget the wind
your past
& us

A wonderful title–people think sometimes that they’d like to erase their past–but you raise the difficulties of that–certainly a mixed bag! There was a wonderful movie–The Eternal Daylight of the Sunshine Mind? That’s not it–but you may like it–Jim Carey–thanks, Adriana, a really interesting idea. K.
I think you mean “the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind”. I love that movie! It is so clever that i had to watch it many times to get all the layers. Thanks for connecting my poem to that movie. It is a great compliment… Smiles!
This is poetry!! I SO felt this piece. Yes, and this:
” The one that provoked you to move again
to see the morning sky
to feel the breeze on your face
Granted, it brought you to tears
It has that effect on me
but I cherish it nevertheless”
especially spoke to me. Beautiful work, Adriana!
It honestly makes me happy to read that my words spoke to you. Thank you, Hannah!
I admire the energy and the invitation to Jump, Jump~ Good to read you at Real toads Adriana ~
Fabulous work. I can feel the rush of the wind and the temptation to join it.
Sometimes it is good to be provoked from the numbness. I love “surprise the water”!
“Can those waves clean selected echoes inside your head?”
What a wonderful line!
I suspect that many of us want to ask the question at least 13 times in our lives (sometimes of ourselves) .
True! I know I ask that question every now and then… 🙂
This is perfect Adriana, what an interesting way to formulate a poem. Such originality in those combinations, I love surprise the water to.. Jump indeed 😉
There’s a wonderful subliminal half-aqueous immersion here between a waking agony and its baptism in healing depths. — A painful place, yes, but enveloped in the grief is so much pure water. Thanks for reminding us to jump.
What an amazing title – it is a poem in itself. I appreciate the energy of your lines, your innovative format lends to rhythm of the whole. Great advice too!
Granted, it brought you to tears
It has that effect on me
but I cherish it nevertheless
Isn’t it reflecting the good times as well?……………. I don’t want to forget just have the stinger removed. This is a thoughtful poem you’ve written.
Thank you for dropping by, Debi.
You ask a great question: “Can those waves clean selected echoes inside your head?” Not sure it will wash the memories completely…
